SDG Camp Hackathon: Youth-Led AI for Health Promotion
In August 2025, the Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP) partnered with AddictLab and Learn with Leaders to assist in their SDGCamps: Future Sustainability Innovators Program to lead a youth-focused hackathon in Geneva. Representing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, A4HP challenged students aged 13–19 from India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kenya to develop an AI chatbot capable of transforming global health declarations into localized public health campaigns.
Over three days, students designed and built BOB (Bio Outreach Buddy)—an AI-powered chatbot trained specifically on WHO and UN Vaccine reports. BOB helps users create culturally sensitive, multilingual health campaigns tailored to specific regions, age groups, and vaccine needs. The chatbot includes features such as:
Multilingual interaction and phone-in accessibility
Region-specific campaign generation based on stakeholder data
Outreach, communication, and service delivery strategies
Cost estimation and implementation planning
The team also created a 3D model of BOB, a stop-motion awareness video, and a presentation poster. Their work earned the top award for being “most to the point,” recognized for its clarity, practicality, and impact.
This hackathon showcased the power of youth in shaping the future of ethical AI in global health. It also demonstrated the potential of EQUIT-AI to engage young innovators in meaningful, tech-driven health promotion.
